WEATHER:  The Pig Roast & Art Auction, a mostly-outdoor event, will take place RAIN or SHINE.

Attire:  "Oyster Roast" casual attire. Walking shoes recommended.  Please dress for the temperature and weather.

The day's events:  Travel by boat to Ossabaw Island at your scheduled boat time.  Walk from Ossabaw Island's North End Dock to the Torrey West Estate (about a 20 minute walk).  Enjoy specialty cocktails on the lawn  and meander through the ground floor of the 10,000 square foot Torrey West home.  View and bid on a silent auction of Ossabaw-inspired artwork. The Pig Roast and Picnic, prepared by Roger Parker and by Epting Events of Athens, Georgia is served on the lawn from 11am - 1pm, followed by a brief live auction and remarks from The Ossabaw Island Foundation.  The silent auction wraps up 15 minutes after lunchtime remarks.  Music throughout the day is provided by Ben & Robbie, and by Bob & Judy Williams.    Afternoon boats returning to the mainland are scheduled (see below).  Transportation will be provided to the North End dock in time for your return boat. Note that Sandy West will not attend the 2017 Pig Roast.

DRIVING INSTRUCTIONS TO BOAT DEPARTURE:

Directions to Delegal Creek Marina, inside The Landings community on Skidaway Island, Georgia.:

Address:  1 Marina Drive, Savannah, GA  31411

Travel south on Whitefield Avenue, which becomes Diamond Causeway. After crossing the Moon River and Skidaway Narrows/River via bridges, you will be on Skidaway Island.  Continue straight ahead and you will reach the Landings Main Gate.

At the Main Gate, give your name to the security staff. They will have your name on a list to allow through the gate.

Once through the Landings Main Gate, bear right on Landings Way South.  You will be traveling for at least 3.5 to 4 miles to the southern end of Skidaway Island, bear right at the last round-a-bout on Marina Road.  Please park in the lot in front of the Marina, or on the street.  The Pig Roast check-in station will be near the flagpole area.

PARKING:      To accommodate as many vehicles as possible, we are asking that pig roast guests carpool when possible, and that Landings residents drive their golf carts to Delegal Creek Marina.

When arriving at Delegal Marina, please drive first to the parking lot and if it is full, please park ONLY ON THE RIGHT SIDE of the street, facing out, so that you do not have to back up or turn around in order to return home at the end of the day.  Parking only on the RIGHT SIDE also allows for emergency vehicle access.  Please do not block residents' driveways.

TICKETS AND BOAT TIMES: The Pig Roast is a "ticketless" event.  Once your tickets are purchased, the buyer's name will be entered on the event roster for the boat time selected. Please adhere to the boat time that’s printed on your receipt.  We ask that you check in 15 minutes before your boat time.   There are no "extra" places on any boat times; guests who arrive for an earlier boat than scheduled, both in the morning (traveling to Ossabaw) and in the afternoon (returning to the mainland), will be asked to wait for their scheduled boat time.

A note about boat times:  Boat times are scheduled based on estimated round trip boat travel times for each watercraft, taking into account October 15 tides, wind, and weather. It is not an exact science.

We make every effort to stay on schedule. Some boats may leave a few minutes earlier than the scheduled boat time, while others will leave a few minutes later.   Please be aware that you may need to wait for your boat for a few minutes.

RELEASE/HOLD HARMLESS FORMS: Each guest must complete a release/hold harmless form in order to attend the Pig Roast.  We will email these forms out in the week prior to the Pig Roast and we will have forms on hand at the check-in site. Each adult must complete his/her own form.  A parent or guardian must complete this form for minors.

RETURNING BOAT PROCEDURE: You will select your returning boat time at the Pig Roast check in table at Delegal Marina on the morning of the Pig Roast.  Selection is first come, first serve.

Return boat times for general admission tickets are: 3:45pm, 4:15pm, 4:30pm, 5:00pm.

We will be providing a shuttle from the Pig Roast at the Torrey West Estate to the Ossabaw dock.  We ask that Pig Roast guests remain at the Torrey West house until you make the 30 minute walk or 15 minute shuttle ride to the dock, in time to check in 15 minutes before your return time.  We ask that you check in at the return dock about 15 minutes before your departure time.

LOW TIDE on Saturday, October 21 is at 4:00pm.  This means that our boat travel times in the afternoon will take longer than in past years, and will cause us to have later return boat times than in past years.

Please remember that part of the adventure is the journey. These guidelines will help the day be more enjoyable.
